Winter Wren
The Winter Wr
ens (Troglodytes troglodytes) are pint sized wrens found living on or near forest floors across the United States.
Their brown mottled feathers tend to blend into the background, making hearing one more likely than seeing one. Males excel at singing long and loud (for their size at leats).
Like other wren species, they are cavity nesters. During breeding season, males build multiple nests in tree stumps or spaces between rocks. Females choose the actual nesting site.
They are fairly wary of humans, making patience or good fortune the primary element involved in getting a picture.
